From curiosity to care: Rence’s impact as a home-based physiotherapist at ParaMed

At ParaMed, we are proud to spotlight how our physiotherapists change lives for clients and patients in their own homes.

Rence has a quiet passion for human movement and care and has helped countless clients regain their independence.

Rence joined ParaMed after years of working in clinical and long-term care settings. What drew him in?

“I wanted more flexibility, autonomy, and a supportive team — and I found that at ParaMed,” he says. “Everyone here is helpful and well-organized. It makes a big difference.”

Turning curiosity into a career

From a young age, Rence was curious about the workings and movements of the human body. “Even as a teen, I was fascinated by biomechanics and physiology. That curiosity – paired with the desire to help people -is what led me to physiotherapy.”

His role is all about keeping people active and helping them be as independent as possible. He creates tailored treatment plans that are both functional and realistic, and he monitors how well they work in real-life activities.

In physiotherapy, clients may encounter challenges during their treatment, and Rence continues to support and motivate them every step of the way.

“Setting short-term goals and providing constant encouragement really helps,” he says. “Emotional health matters just as much as physical progress.”

Memorable moments

One of Rence’s most memorable experiences? Supporting a client recovering from a hip fracture who progressed from needing a walker to walking independently. “Helping someone reclaim that kind of independence is incredibly rewarding.”

Rence believes that trust starts with education. “When clients understand their condition and how physio can help, it builds confidence. We celebrate every small win that keeps people motivated. Technology has made his work more seamless, too. “Digital documentation and easier collaboration with other providers have made a real impact on care delivery.”

For Rence, Physiotherapy Month is about visibility and impact. “It’s a chance to raise awareness and show how physiotherapists support everything from injury recovery to long-term wellness.”
