Building Bridges in Home Healthcare: Meet Zahidur
For Zahidur, every day begins with a plan. As an Assignment Coordinator at ParaMed’s Toronto University district, he starts each morning mapping out care schedules and connecting clients with the right caregivers, a role that’s both strategic and deeply personal.
“Our role involves communication between clients and staff,” Zahidur explains. “We speak with clients to understand their care needs and then assign the appropriate staff-like a PSW or a nurse-based on those needs.”
Having worked at ParaMed Home Health for two years, Zahidur has become the vital link between those who need care and those who provide it. It’s a responsibility he doesn’t take lightly.
What drives him each day? “The clients,” he says simply. “They’re friendly, and when we provide them with the best care, they appreciate it. Their compliments really make my day and motivate me to do my job.”
For Zahidur, successful home healthcare comes down to connection. “Communication is key,” he emphasizes. “Staff and clients need to communicate well to ensure the best care. Also, mutual understanding helps build a good relationship and flexibility in care.”
While the work can be challenging, particularly when balancing client needs with staff availability, Zahidur finds purpose in the daily rhythm of his role. “I enjoy coming in and planning the whole day,” he shares. “Even if it gets hectic, having a plan helps me manage the day better.”
Behind every successful home care visit is someone like Zahidur, working thoughtfully to ensure clients receive not just any care, but the right care from the right person. For him, coordination isn’t just about logistics, it’s about creating connections that make a difference in someone’s day.
