Meet our Care Champions:

Carrie-Leigh, Personal Support Worker, Ontario, nominated by a peer

“Carrie-Leigh is an outstanding and compassionate staff member. She communicates with her supervisor about changes in clients and advocates on their behalf to ensure they’re getting their needs and service requirements met. Her attention to detail in her communications and clients’ needs has prevented near misses in client deteriorations and medical needs. Carrie-Leigh is currently upgrading her PSW to an RPN diploma. She is going to make an amazing nurse!”

Joseph, Personal Support Worker, Ontario, nominated by a peer

“On June 21, 2022, Joe was providing care for a client, when the client suddenly began to have a seizure. The client did not want EMS contacted, but Joe ‘felt in his gut’ that something was not right and encouraged the client to allow him to call EMS. While EMS was on the scene, the client had another episode. The client consented to go to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a TIA. Due to Joe’s encouragement, and calm nature during the emergency, the client was able to be treated at the hospital where staff informed the family that he had saved the client’s life. The family said that there is no one they would rather have care for the client than Joe.”
