Ramandeep’s story: Growing in her career as a Registered Nurse for ParaMed

When Ramandeep started working for ParaMed in 2024 she knew she was where she wanted to be.

“Nursing is my passion,” she says, “Pursuing excellence, being with patients, learning from them, talking to them, taking care of them, and sharing our experiences is really wonderful.”

A nursing graduate in 2018, Ramandeep practiced at a hospital in India before she came to Canada in 2021.  Upon arrival, she immediately enrolled in the Health Administration Program at St. Lawrence College.

“I worked hard to ensure I understood how the Canadian health -care system operates,” she says. From there, Ramandeep studied for and wrote the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) exams. “I wanted to become a Registered Nurse in Ontario, and I passed in February of 2024.”

Benefits of home health care at ParaMed

“Working for ParaMed has been a very positive experience,” says Ramandeep.  “It’s a very positive culture of people, I’m very well supported, and everyone has been very fair and respectful.”

Ramandeep adds that she also appreciates the flexible schedule that working in home health care at ParaMed offers.

“I can manage a good work and life balance, I really like that,” she smiles.

Encouragement for future Registered Nurses

For anyone considering pursuing a career in nursing, Ramandeep has this encouragement and advice, “Being an advocate for someone is important work.  Being with people every day and helping them with their care is a gift. This whole journey, coming to Canada, expanding my skills, starting this job has been a good experience for me – if you are wondering if you should try it, you should, you can make a real difference.”

In addition to caring for her patients, Ramandeep is committed to continued education, growing her expertise, and advancing in her career.

“I want to learn something new every day so that I can be perfect in my field,” she says.  “I want to settle into my role right now and be the best I can at it. In a few years, I want to apply to be a Nurse Practitioner so I can build my skills and help my team and my clients even more – I can do it.”
